Inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery

Dr Henry Knipe et al.

The inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery is the first branch of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA), though it often arises from the first jejunal branch.

It anastomoses with branches of the superior pancreaticoduodenal artery (from the gastroduodenal artery) and it supplies the head of the pancreas and the duodenum distal to the ampulla of Vater.
