Acute pyelonephritis

Fever, leukocytosis and abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 53 years old
Gender: Female

Focal area of hypo-enhancement and blurring of the corticomedullary differentiation at the upper pole of the left kidney, best seen on the coronal images.

Case Discussion

Among the changes of acute pyelonephritis, hypoperfusion due to reactive vasospasm causes hypoperfusion of part of the kidney which can the seen as an area of hypoenhancement.
