Isolated abscence of the right pulmonary artery

Acute dyspnea, cough. No fever.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

CT of the chest demonstrates absence of the right pulmonary artery. Right hemithorax is smaller than left one. Right pleural effusion with compression with compressive atelectasis of middle and lower lobe.

Numerous mediastinal lymph nodes noted.

Case Discussion

This patient has a rare vascular anomaly - absence of the right pulmonary artery.  He didn't have any symptoms all his life. Current complaints is due to pleural effusion.
